    Jean jackets have been part of our core closets for well over 100 years. The first was created by Levi Strauss for cowboys, railroad engineers and miners to wear during the gold rush. Since that time, women have adopted them and made them a staple as they are the 4th piece of our capsule wardrobe.

    It will always be amazing to me as I look at one pattern, then look at the changes that can be done with that pattern. Today on Fit 2 Stitch, we will do that with seams. So many options as we take the pattern and change up how the seams are stitched which have a huge impact on the look of the final garment.

    Originating during the middle ages, the Jacket is today's most important garment in all women's wardrobe. It is our 5th garment in our capsule wardrobe. It communicates education, it says honesty, it says I am prepared and so much more.

    Today's modern woman has a wardrobe of pants that take her everywhere from her place of work to the exercise class. And what is the difference? Today we will explore our 6th capsule wardrobe piece, the pant, and make one pattern work in so many different ways.

  • The Jean (#711)

    The Jean originated in 1873 and is still one of the most popular parts of our wardrobes today. Jeans are part of our capsule wardrobe yet they, if purchased, are sometimes very expensive and poorly fitted. We will fit both the stretch jean and the non-stretch jean and compare the differences so regardless of the fabrics you are using, you get the result you want.

  • Skirts and Knit Cardigan (#712)

    The skirt and the knit cardigan complete our capsule wardrobe's last 2 pieces and these are great pieces to really understand. We will learn the many options we have with the skirt so we'll take the skirt base, then cut and tape a bit to see what else will result.

    A fashion designer is responsible for creating the specific look of individual garments - including a garment's - including a garment's shape, color, fabric, trimmings, and other aspects of the whole. Fashion designers hold a special place in the world. Their contributions have changes our lives, our choices, and what we wear every day. Today we look at the fabrics, the fit, and the details of several designs and begin to understand why one may cost more than another.

  • Cd Greene - The Dressing of a Woman (#902)

    "I have wanted to be a fashion designer my whole life", are the words of many young boys and girls while only a few actually reach this level of accomplishment. Another quote: "What is it about wearing that little black dress, that makes us feel confident, beautiful, splendid, even invincible? We put on a dress and suddenly we become extraordinary. Going back 20+ years, I first met Donna Salyers from out sewing trade show days.     Elizabeth Taylor has said "A woman without a scarf is a woman without a future." But my favorite quote is: "Not all superheros wear caps, some wear scarves" Today we will help all of you embrace scarves. We learn the shapes, sized, and finishes to help you love wearing them and make sure they don't wear you. Then some tips about sweing with fur and fur finishes.   • Hannah Lord Montague Collars and Their History (#908)

    As long as we have a neckline, we can make a collar. Short, narrow, wide, large, removable, fur, and much more today as we learn how to make collars simply by tracing the neck edge. Many designers make these collars removable to add value to their garments and also to charge more or justify their costs. Collars give us versatility and change the look, but let's learn the basics and beyond, all tody on Fit 2 Stitch.

  • Diane Von Frustenberg The Classic Wrap Dress (#909)

    Although it is often claimed that Dian von Furstenberg 'invented' the wrap dress in 1972, there were earlier wrap dresses. During the Great Depression, house dresses called "Hooverettes" were popular which employed a wrap design. Wrap dresses by Elza Schiaparelli in the 1930s and by Claire Mc-Car-Dell in the 1940s, whose original 'popover' design became the basis for a variety of wrap-around dresses. Today on Fit 2 Stitch, we master the drape to keep that wrap, all wrapped up.

  • Guest Designer - Guest from Stanley Korshak - Julie Cohn (#910)

    In the decades since she earned her MFA from SMU, jewelry designer Julie Cohn has created jewelry now distributed throughtout the US. At the heart of her work has always been artistry. She said, "I always knew I wanted to be an artist. I had a plan A and didn't even entertain anything else but plan a. That's all I wanted to do." Today, we get to learn from Julie and share her vision on the role jewelry plays on our garments. And one of my faourite quotes, "Jewelry always fits!" Today on Fit 2 Stitch, we talk jewelry.

  • Guest Designer - Sai Sankoh from Dallas, TX (#911)

    Sai Sankoh started designing clothes just two years ago. She ewas working as a nurse at the time and ran a fashion blog on the side. In November 2018, she decided to launch her online store and try her luck at selling her own designs. Sankoh specializes in luxurious resort wear, influenced by her travels, which began at a young age. Today, we are honored to meet Sai and learn her expertise at clothing coordination.   • Veronica Beard / Donna Karan (#912)

    Today is play time on Fit 2 Stich. Our goal is to take the concepts of Veronica Beard and mix them with Donna Karan and Eileen Fisher. Donna Karan believed in dressing women to look strong and beautiful. What do they have in common and what is our take-away? The basics done in such a way, that we, as sewers, can save large dollars. Donna Karan has been quoted as saying "Accent your positive and delete your negative." And also "Delete the negative; accentuate the positive!" Either way it is said, all this today on Fit 2 Stitch.

  • Chanel History and Construction of the famous Chanel Jacket (#913)

    Gabrielle Bon nel "Coco" Chanel was a French fashion designer and businesswoman. The founder and namesake of the Chanel brand, she was credited in the post-World War I era with liberating women from the constraints of the "corseted silhouette" and popularizing a sporty, casual chic as the feminine standard of style.
