Durham, NH (June 3, 2025) — New Hampshire PBS is excited to announce a brand-new season of WINDOWS TO THE WILD with host Willem Lange. Starting this June, viewers can enjoy a fresh format with behind-the-scenes insights and two new international travel specials. Short digital-first stories will be released online over the summer, leading up to the launch of the show's 20th season on TV this fall.
Some of this season's stories include Nicole from Belfast, Maine, who founded DoryWoman Rowing during the pandemic, a story about ice skating on Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont and a journey into up to Canterbury Shaker Village to uncover the stonework of a Revolutionary War soldier.
“This season, we’re not just telling outdoor stories—we’re sharing lives shaped by nature, culture, and community,” said executive producer Phil Vaughn. “We're also excited to share shorter episodes online to connect with new audiences in fresh ways.”
Trail Mixer Edition: Special Preview Show
Kicking off the new season is WINDOWS TO THE WILD: TRAIL MIXER EDITION, a special preview show broadcast only on New Hampshire PBS. The show offers the upcoming 20th season, with host Willem Lange and executive producer Phil Vaughn sharing behind-the-scenes insights and stories from the new episodes. Check local listings.

WINDOWS TO THE WILD: Off to Portugal - EPISODE 2001

Join Willem and a lively group of New Englanders on a captivating tour of Portugal. The adventure begins in Porto and spans the Douro Valley, Guimarães, Aveiro, and Lisbon’s historic Alfama quarter. From Port wine and moliceiro boats to dramatic coastal cliffs and centuries-old fishing traditions, this episode explores the heart and soul of Portuguese culture.

WINDOWS TO THE WILD: Discover Austria – EPISODE 2002
Premieres Thursday, June 12 at 8 PM on NHPBS
Discover Austria follows Willem Lange across Austria’s scenic and cultural landmarks—from Salzburg’s Mirabell Gardens—famous for its appearance in The Sound of Music—to the snowy peaks of Untersberg, to the grandeur of Vienna’s Belvedere Palace and the Danube River. Along the way, Lange reflects on art, music and turning 90 in one of Europe’s most unforgettable settings.
“This journey was part travel, part history and part celebration,” says Lange. “If there’s a better way to turn 90, I can’t think of it.”
