Durham, NH (April 23, 2025) – New Hampshire PBS is proud to announce that two WINDOWS TO THE WILD programs, Little Foot and Saving Our Shores, are both nominated for Emmys in the 48th Boston/New England Regional Emmy® Awards.
The WINDOWS TO THE WILD episode Little Foot was nominated in the Lifestyle category. Six-year-old Scarlett, also known as “Little Foot,” has hiked all 48 of New Hampshire’s 4,000-footers in both summer and winter. Host Willem Lange meets this avid hiker and her grandparents. Together, they've conquered New Hampshire's most challenging mountains and taught others about hiking safely.
Nominated in the Historical/Cultural — Long Form category is the WINDOWS TO THE WILD Saving Our Shores episode. A group of dedicated swimmers embark on a seven-mile ocean challenge from the Isles of Shoals to Rye Beach to commemorate a historic battle against a proposed oil refinery on New Hampshire's coastline. Fifty years ago, a determined group of citizens, including the mothers of two featured swimmers, successfully fought to protect their beloved shoreline from environmental devastation.
“It’s a genuine team effort and every member played a part,” said WINDOWS TO THE WILD executive producer Phil Vaughn. “This is what Public Media does best, and it's an honor to be recognized with these nominations as it brings attention to the important stories that the people of New Hampshire have to share.”
“These stories of resilience, community and connection to the land are why we do what we do,” said WINDOWS TO THE WILD producer Stephen Giordani. “Huge thanks to everyone who shared their journey with us.”
New Hampshire PBS also showcases and helps locally produced independent films find an audience on NHPBS. Congratulations to the creative teams behind these standout films that are also nominated for Emmys.
Nominated in the Documentary/Cultural category, La Frontière, is a poetic documentary portrait of Maine’s border with Canada, exploring the history and culture of these northern borderlands and is produced by Megan Ruffe Productions, LLC.
The Power of Water: The story of Bob King was nominated in the Environment/Science category. This film was created by SALT Project, INC and offers a window into the history of hydropower in New England, the ongoing energy transition, the importance of land conservation—and how we can all be part of the solution.
Within the Crystal Hills is nominated for three Emmys — Writer, Graphic Arts – Art Direction and Musical Composition/Arrangement. The animated short is produced by Gruppetstudios, INC and reimagines the origin story of New Hampshire’s Old Man of the Mountain.
