Healthful Indian Flavors with Alamelu

Alamelu will show you how to transform bland Brussels sprouts into a saucy dish called "Brussels Sprouts Kulambu". She'll also prepare a simple roasted potato dish seasoned with spices and a delicious ground turkey dish cooked with split peas and coconut called "Turkey Podimas". We'll also take a trip to a local Indian grocery store to select spices for use in the kitchen.

HEALTHFUL INDIAN FLAVORS WITH ALAMELU is hosted by Milwaukee area resident, culinary educator, and three-time cookbook co-author Alamelu Vairavan.

A native of the Chettinad region of South India, Alamelu has lived most of her adult life in the United States.

Over the years, she developed a deep interest in promoting the use of spices, legumes, and Indian cooking techniques into healthy food preparation that would appeal to Americans.
