Durham, NH (February 27, 2026) — The Profile Patriots surged ahead of the Bishop Brady Giants, earning a decisive 375–210 victory in this week’s third game of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE on New Hampshire PBS.
The Bishop Brady Giants are led by captain Alex Pelletier, a 12th-grader, and include Andrew King, an 11th-grader, along with 12th-graders Joseph Richardson and James Horangic. Serving as team alternates are 11th-graders David Cameron and Henry Thresher. The Giants are coached by History teacher Anna Schaffer and Math teacher Tom Morey. Located in Concord, Bishop Brady enrolls 225 students. Bishop Brady played in the first season of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE in 1984 and defeated ConVal High to win the championship in 2011.
The Profile Patriots are led by captain Maddie Perkins, a 12th-grader, and feature a lineup of fellow seniors Moses Rolfe, Wyatt Wright, and Marcus Hamilton. The team’s alternates are Henry Hamilton, a 9th-grader, and Raiden Valentine, a 12th-grader. The Patriots are coached by school counselor Jill Brewer and Social Studies teacher Paul Savard. The school enrolls 130 students in Grafton County and serves the communities of Bethlehem, Easton, Franconia and Sugar Hill.
In Round One, the entire Profile team started out with a bang, showing off their breadth of knowledge and answering questions about topics ranging from the Gettysburg Address to what nut is used in making marzipan. Profile team captain Maddie had a run of correct answers that ranged from tax return deductions to what Queen of France who was known as “Madame Déficit,” to what travels at 186,282 miles per second in a vacuum.
Teammates Moses put Profile on the scoreboard first by answering which artist released the songs “Rolling in the Deep” and “Hello” and also clinched the last question of Round One by correctly identifying that the 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand is considered to be the event that precipitated World War I.
Profile’s Wyatt picked up 25 points by answering the Semi-quincentennial Question celebrating America’s 250th birthday when author and teacher John Herman asked who the primary author of the Declaration of Independence.
Bishop Brady lagged behind at first, but Joseph picked up the first math question of the game by answering correctly how many feet are in a mile. Toward the end of Round One, Bishop Brady began to find its rhythm and team captain Alex answered who wrote hit songs “Get Rich or Die Tryin’,” while Andrew buzzed in quickly and identified one of the two nations that share the island of New Guinea.
Bishop Brady Coach Anna Schaffer felt like the team learned a lot this season. “I told them going in that win or lose, they're doing awesome. It's been 15 years since we've had a team on GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE, so they're doing something that they don't have a peer that's done before,” said coach Schaffer. “So, I give them a lot of kudos.”
In the three-strikes-and-you’re-out format of Round Two—widely regarded as the most strategically challenging phase of the game—Profile outpaced Bishop Brady, six correct responses to four. Profile teammate Marcus was visibly thrilled to get on the board, confidently nailing the answer to the 1984 Kevin Bacon film that famously banned dancing.
In Round Three, a quick-fire 60-second round, Bishop Brady gained another 50 points with help from their alternates David Cameron and Henry Thresher. When asked what war John McCain was a POW for five and a half years, Bishop Brady teammate James answered correctly.
The Patriots from Profile added a whopping 90 points to their lead with the help from team alternates Henry Hamilton and Raiden Valentine. The Profile team continued to dominate in Round Four and went on to win the game.
With a student body of 130 students, Profile High School team captain, Maddie said, “I'm proud of us for being able to compete against schools that have like 10 times our population, if not more.”
Profile coach and Social Studies teacher Paul Savard said, “As a teacher, I'm prouder because a lot of the stuff that they've learned in our classes now reflect in these answers and they can apply them. So, it's great.”
Bishop Brady team captain Alex Pelletier reflected on the team’s game. “It definitely isn’t the outcome that we were looking for, but this being our first time, I’m quite pleased.”
