CONCORD HIGH SCHOOL PREVAILS OVER JOHN STARK ON GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Concord High School defeated John Stark Regional High School by a score of 310 to 240. While the John Stark Generals were competitive, Concord's quick buzzer and responses ultimately kept them in the lead.The Concord Crimson Tide was represented by captain Marissa Splendore, Azwad Iqbal, Eliot Sands, and Joe Ossoff, and were coached by Helen Dugan and Chad Fleming. The John Stark Generals team was represented by captain Mike Caplan, Megan McNally, Brandon Loiselle, and Ben Trumble, and were coached by Jill Pinard and Phil Matzke. Watch the match online.Concord High School now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team.
