Something Wonderful Is Happening in Warner

NHPBS Explores the Power of Community in New Our Hometown Episode

New Hampshire PBS showcases how Warner, NH turns community spirit into timeless stories.

DURHAM, NH (June 25, 2025) — New Hampshire PBS invites viewers to discover the vibrant heart of Warner, New Hampshire in the newest episode of OUR HOMETOWN, its award-winning series celebrating the stories and voices of Granite State communities. Join host and New Hampshire author Rebecca Rule and discover far more than a postcard of scenic charm, OUR HOMETOWN: WARNER takes a deep dive into a town that blends artistry, activism and ancestry into a living mosaic of hometown pride.

With fewer than 3,000 residents, Warner is small in size but mighty in spirit and steeped in tradition. Nestled at the foot of Mount Kearsarge and carved by the Warner River, this small town lays claim to Rollins State Park, four museums and two covered bridges. What sets Warner apart, though, are the people—visionaries, volunteers, quiet and not so quiet changemakers—who’ve made it their mission to preserve the past while planting seeds for a vibrant future.

This episode of OUR HOMETOWN explores a museum born from a troubadour’s dream, a homemade cannon that sparked a town tradition, a lavender farm where a wild idea blossomed into an unforgettable wedding, and a bookstore that became the heart of a community park. From newcomers embraced with open arms to local legends, Warner proves that small towns are rich with big stories—and even bigger spirit. Over 28 stories were shared by Warner residents and will be published online for digital distribution.

“Our goal with Our Hometown has always been to amplify the stories that define our communities from the inside out,” said OUR HOMETOWN host Rebecca Rule. “And Warner? Warner is a living example of what’s possible when neighbors know each other’s names and show up not just to help, but to build something together.”

OUR HOMETOWN: WARNER premieres on Thursday, July 3 at 9 p.m. on New Hampshire PBS, with multiple airdates on NHPBS and NHPBS Explore. It can also be viewed online at nhpbs.org/hometown/warner and on the PBS App.

This story-rich local program reinforces New Hampshire PBS’ public media mission—to inform, educate and inspire—while deepening appreciation for the shared history and the uniqueness of the state’s small towns and cities.

Support for Our Hometown: Warner was provided by The Eppes-Jefferson Foundation and Road Scholar, with additional production support by the Warner Historical Society, New Hampshire Telephone Museum, MainStreet BookEnds and Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum.

The OUR HOMETOWN series premiered in 2015 with a focus on Peterborough, followed by shows about Ashland, Berlin, Colebrook, Conway, Littleton, Milford, Nashua, Nottingham, Plymouth, Stratham and Wolfeboro. The series explores the culture, commerce, history and people of New Hampshire's towns and cities and has produced over 450 digital stories so far.
