Newmarket Defeats Conant on Granite State Challenge

Newmarket Advances to Round Two

(DURHAM, October 1, 2009) –Newmarket High School brought their A-game to Wednesday's Granite State Challenge and defeated Conant High School by a score of 210 to 100 in the second match of the GSC season. Granite State Challenge airs Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and again Saturdays at 8:30 a.m., only on New Hampshire Public Television. The prevailing Newmarket Mules included seniors Robert Mantegani and Rhianna James and juniors Jay Lancaster and Tyle Foster and alternates Trevor Kiefaber, Rob Bennett and William Jensen. They were coached by James Fabiano. Their opponents, the Conant Orioles, included seniors Matthew Magliacane and Samuel Doe, as well as juniors Michael Corliss and Jonathan Orr. They were coached by Jon Duggan. Tune in Wednesday, October 7 @ 6 p.m. for the next GSC match-up: Lin-Wood Public School vs. Sant Bani School Tune in each Wednesday night @ 6 p.m. and follow your favorite teams' progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in April. Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Lori Warriner interviews team members prior to the game.
