PINKERTON ACADEMY RETURNS TO SEMI-FINALS ON GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, April 18, 2015 ) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, reigning champion Pinkerton Academy defeated Nashua High School South by a score of 355 to 275. The lead bounced between the two teams in the first half, and then Pinkerton racked up points to hold the lead throughout the second half. The Pinkerton Astros were represented by captain Rebekah Terry, Joe Ronca, Jake Hudgins, and Sara Tridenti, and were coached by Peter Crowell and Pam Griswold. The Nashua South Purple Panthers were represented by captain Dody Eid, Nisha Devasia, Samuel McIntyre, and Noah Telerski, and were coached by Greg Montine, Neil Claffey and Catherine Poulin. Watch the match online. Pinkerton Academy now advances to the semi-finals of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. Stay tuned for next week's match on Saturday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m., when Plymouth Regional goes up against Manchester Central High School. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team.
