NASHUA HIGH SCHOOL SOUTH TOPS ACADEMY FOR SCIENCE & DESIGN IN 1st ROUND OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, March 14, 2015) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Nashua High School South defeated the Academy for Science and Design (ASD) by a score of 245 to 145. Nashua South built a narrow lead going into the final round and came out the winner in the final minutes of the game. The Nashua South Purple Panthers was represented by captain Dody Eid, Nisha Devasia, Samuel McIntyre, and Noah Telerski, and were coached by Neil Claffey and Catherine Poulin. ASD was represented by captain Aditya Patel, Bryce Stack, Alex Jaferey and Erin Harper, and were coached by Doug Belley and Patty Sockey.Watch the match online. Nashua South now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. Watch out for next week's match, when Plymouth Regional goes head to head with long-time rival and perennial powerhouse Hanover High School - Saturday March 21 at 6 p.m. on NHPTV PRIME. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team.
