Bishop Guertin Advances to Semifinals of Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, March 11, 2010) – Bishop Guertin High School celebrated victory on Wednesday's Granite State Challenge, defeating Winnacunnet Regional High School by a score of 305 to 240. The win secured Bishop Guertin High School the first spot in the semifinals. Catch Granite State Challenge Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and again Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Public Television, and always online. The conquering Bishop Guertin Cardinals included seniors Nick Aldwin, Andy Brink, and Nadia Morris, junior Brandon Pierotti, and alternate Chris Dicesare. They were coached by Mary Starratt and Aaron Weiss. Their opponents, the Winnacunnet Warriors, included seniors Ben Howard, Chris Cain, and Elizabeth Cushing, junior Calvin Lord, and alternates Sara Moe, Tom Schoenberger, and Patrick Kamieneski. They were coached by Kevin Fleming and Andrew Gushee. TUNE IN WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17 @ 6 p.m. DERRYFIELD SCHOOL vs. HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL Tune in each Wednesday night @ 6 p.m. and follow your favorite teams' progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in April. Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Lori Warriner interviews team members prior to the game.
