Durham, NH (April 21, 2025) - Bedford High meets Profile High in the last quarterfinal game on Granite State Challenge. Viewers can watch the match on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 8:30 p.m. on New Hampshire PBS.
Playing for Bedford Bulldogs are team captain and 9th grader Matthew Ruggiero along with 10th graders Alina Chausovsky and Tabitha Arp and 9th grader Sumedh Godavarthy. Team alternates are 10th grader Samantha Arp and 9th grader Tristan Albano.
Going into the match Bedford’s team captain Matthew Ruggiero was fired up, “The key to success is always in rounds, 2 and 3. That's where you really start to see the winners start to put it together. So, we're emphasizing teamwork and we're emphasizing reaction time.”
The team is coached by Destination Imagination coordinator Kelly Chausovsky and parent volunteer Sherry Arp. Bedford High enrolls around 1,492 students and serves the town of Bedford.
“I'm feeling really excited for them,” said Bedford coach Chausovsky. “This was all of our first experience with Granite State Challenge.”
Playing for Profile Patriots are team captain and 11th grader Maddie Perkins along with 12th grader Isaac Reeder and 11th graders Mica Ritter and Raiden Valentine. Team alternate is 12th grader Sophie Phelps.
“We worked on buzzer speed last time. We had a lot of really close questions where it was just who could get the first millisecond after the light went off,” said Profile’s team captain Maddie Perkins.
The team is coached by social studies teacher Paul Savard. Profile High enrolls around 141 students and serves the towns of Bethlehem, Easton, Franconia and Sugar Hill.
Despite some adjustments to their roster, the Profile Patriots are geared up for the game. “They're feeling confident and a little nervous,” said coach Paul Savard. “I have a few illnesses and changes in the lineup, but they're feeling good and excited.”
