Mascoma Valley Regional HS Defeats Dover HS in Round Two of Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, March 27, 2008) - Mascoma Valley Regional High School triumphed over Dover High School by a score of 200 to 175, advancing them to the quarterfinals of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. The series airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on NHPTV. The victorious Mascoma Valley Royals were an all-senior team comprised of Aaron Fetto, Ashleigh King, Andrew Cushing, Amy Stark, and alternates Erica Smith and William Arnold. Their coaches were Mike Carr and Mary Wenig. The Dover Green Waves were made up of seniors Andrew Kageleiry, Alex Carlton, and Jimmy Haight, sophomore Ben Wallis, alternates Brittany LaFleur and Andrew Stewart, and were coached by Bruce McAdam and Sam Little. Mascoma Valley Regional High School faces John Stark Regional High School in the quarterfinals on April 30 @ 7:30 p.m. Tune in Wednesday, 4/2 @ 7:30 p.m. Campbell High School faces off against Monadnock Regional High School in the Granite State Challenge Quarterfinals Tune in each Wednesday night @ 7:30 p.m. to follow your favorite teams and track their progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May. Now celebrating its 25th year, Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. The game emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts - along with a smattering of pop culture trivia and New Hampshire topics. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game.
