MERRIMACK HIGH SCHOOL PUSHES THROUGH TO SECOND ROUND OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Merrimack High School beat Kingswood Regional by a score of 235 to 155. Although Kingswood managed to hold the lead for a few rounds, ultimately Merrimack triumphed. The Merrimack Tomahawks were represented by captain Dan Mulligan, James Jolly, Bailey Joseph, and Jack Landry, and were coached by Sara Campbell. The Kingswood Knights were represented by captain Michael Bloomer, Patrick Coughlin, Samantha Wood, and John Langer, and were coached by John Struble. Watch the match online. "Before the match, the students practiced in my room every day after school," said Merrimack coach Sara Campbell. "Kingswood put in a very good effort and were only down by a few points heading into the final round. We will continue to practice for the next game." Merrimack High School now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a third year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts facts – along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England. Host Jim Jeannotte poses the Challenge questions; co-host Lori Warriner gets the behind-the-scenes story from each team.
