(DURHAM, February 29, 2008) - Get ready for the wearin' o' the green as New Hampshire Public Television celebrates Irish music and culture with an array of concerts (including NH's own Tommy Makem), a trip to Ireland on Aer Lingus, and a pint-sized tour of the most notable pubs in Dublin. On St. Patrick's Day Monday, March 17th @ 8 p.m., don't miss Ireland's - and New Hampshire's - beloved Tommy Makem, as he takes us on a tour of pubs, churches, castles and cliffs from Dublin to Belfast on Tommy Makem's Ireland. NHPTV Music on the Eire Celtic Thunder: 3/2 @ 7 p.m.; 3/6 @ 9 p.m.; 3/14 @ 9 p.m. The all-male Celtic group sings traditional and contemporary Irish and Scottish ballads and pop songs such as "Mountains of Mourne," "Come by the Hills," and "Raggle Taggle Gypsy." The High Kings: 3/3 @ 7:30 p.m.; 3/9 @ 4 p.m.; Descending from famous Irish folk bloodlines, Finbarr Clancy, Brian Dunphy, Martin Furey and Darren Holden are The High Kings, the most exciting Irish ballad group to emerge since the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. They sing a rousing "Rocky Road to Dublin," a haunting version of "The Parting Glass," as well as "The Wild Rover" and "Fields of Glory." Daniel O'Donnell: 3/8 @ 5:30 p.m.; 3/15 @ 8 p.m. Performing from County Donegal and other favorite spots in Ireland, Daniel O'Donnell sings "Destination Donegal," "Dear Old Galway Town," "The Blue Hills of Breffini" and "My Lovely Rose of Clare." Visions of Ireland: 3/10 @ 7:30 p.m. Enjoy the beauty of the Emerald Isle, and bid on an opportunity to see it for yourself as the high bidder on an Ireland getaway for two generously donated by Aer Lingus and Bunratty Castle Gardens. Enjoy roundtrip air transportation, six nights accommodations and a tour of the Waterford Crystal Factory. Historic Pubs of Dublin: 3/9 @ 5:30 p.m.; 3/10 @ 9 p.m. Pulitzer Prize-winner Frank McCourt raises a glass to Dublin's most notable historic pubs, and serves as tour guide, providing insight into Irish culture and history, and the significance the Irish pub plays in both areas. Tommy Makem's Ireland: 3/17 @ 8 p.m. One of Ireland's - and NH's - favorite sons visits pubs, churches, castles and cliffs from Dublin and Connemarra to Belfast and the Dingle Peninsula.
