Sanborn Regional High School Defeats Nute High School in Round One of Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, December 27, 2007) - Sanborn Regional High School defeated Nute High School by a score of 120 to 105, advancing them to round two of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. The series airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on NHPTV. The triumphant Sanborn Indians team was comprised of seniors Craig Eldridge, Kim Lozeau and Ashley Walukevich, junior Eric Sands, alternates Brian Sands and Darrin Broadhurst, and coaches Michelle Karcz and Evan Czyzowski. The Nute Rams included seniors Sarah Mathews and Ryan Hammond, sophomores Gabrielle Mack and John Gray, and alternates Uriah Brown and Sean Barth; they were coached by Doug Decker. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tune in Wednesday, 1/2 @ 7:30 p.m. to watch John Stark Regional High School vs. Kingswood Regional High School -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tune in each Wednesday night @ 7:30 p.m. to follow your favorite teams and track their progress. Now celebrating its 25th year, Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. The game emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts - along with a smattering of pop culture trivia and New Hampshire topics. Host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game. Major funding for Granite State Challenge is provided by the New Hampshire Lottery. Additional funding is provided by Public Service of New Hampshire, the Community College System of New Hampshire, Irving Oil, and the NHHEAF Network Organizations.
