(DURHAM – December 8, 2010) – What do the Governor’s Inn of Rochester, the Cedar Mill Group of Webster, Certified Parts Warehouse of Dover and Goss International of Durham have in common? They all survived the economic downturn. Christine Davis, Business Resource Specialist for the NH Division of Economic Development and former executive director of the NH Women’s Business Center, discusses how these four locally owned businesses overcame challenges posed by the economic downturn, on a special OUTLOOK ON BUSINESS airing December 10 at 6 p.m., December 12 at 9:30 a.m. and December 13 at 6 p.m. on New Hampshire Public Television. Each company faced a decline in business due to the recession, yet all are still in business because they took calculated risks and were willing to change their business models: • Governor’s Inn brothers and owners Anthony and Herman Ejarque took their business in a new direction; • Geoff Martin, owner of Cedar Mill Group, bucked industry standards and translated change into profits and an increase in business; • Scott Johnson, owner of Certified Parts Warehouse, aggressively sought new growth opportunities and hired a second shift to keep up with demand; and • Jochen Meissner, CEO of Goss International, refocused resources and created new sources of revenue.
