Then he explains the use of his reference material, and the importance of using artistic license. He then shows how to use the hake brush to create a semi-mottled sky/background to establish the proper color scheme. He now shows how to use the smaller bristle brushes to scrub in the first layer of distant trees, brushes, and hills. Then finishes by underpainting the foreground brush and grass.
