Tor Seidler

Born in Littleton, New Hampshire, Tor Seidler grew up in Vermont and later, Seattle, Washington. Encouraged by his family's love of the arts, Tor studied English literature at Stanford University, and at the age of twenty-seven his first book, The Dulcimer Boy , was published, launching his celebrated career as a writer. Over the past twenty years, Mr. Seidler has become one of the most important voices in children's fiction with such classics as A Rat?s Tale; The Wainscott Weasel , an ALA Notable Book; Terpin; and Mean Margaret (A National Book Award finalist, a Publisher?s Weekly & School Library Journal Best Book); The Revenge of Randal Reese-Rat ; Brothers BelowZero ; Brainboy and the Deathmaster (A Parent?s Choice Gold Award); Toes (A Parent?s Choice Silver Award); and the recently published Gully?s Travels (Scholastic, 2008). His work has been translated into a dozen languages and A Rat?s Tale was made into a motion picture (Warner Bros). For adults Seidler published a novel, Take a Good Look (FSG, 1990). He taught creative writing at Hoftra University in the mid-1990's and has taught in the MFA writing program at the New School since 2002. He lives in New York City.

The New Hampshire Authors Series features writers who live, summer, teach, or were born in New Hampshire.

Yankee writer and humorist Rebecca Rule invites poets, fiction and nonfiction writers, and journalists to share their insights into the art and craft of writing in one-on-one conversations before audiences at the University of New Hampshire's Dimond Library.

The interviews are held in October, January and April, and are recorded by New Hampshire Public Television for broadcast.

The series is free and open to the public.
