Hanover Defeats Winnacunnet on Granite State Challenge

Moves on to Quarter Finals

Do you know what a vexillophile studies? That stumped both teams in the opening game of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE.

The Hanover High Marauders defeated the Winnacunnet High Warriors by a score of 620-450 in the first game of the new season of Granite State Challenge. Not only was this the first game of the season, it was the first televised game for the new host of Granite State Challenge, Jon Cannon.

Playing for the Hanover High Marauders were Daniel Bender, James Eiler, Oliver Minshall, captain Liam Szczepiorkowski, and alternate Hannah Weintraub. The team is coached by Bill Murphy.

The Winnacunnet Warriors were represented by captain MacLean Baker, Tim Sicard, Maggie Brown, Zachary Rummler, and alternate Tyler Hughes. The team is coached by Kevin Flemming

Hanover High will now go on to play the winner of Game Two between Bow High and Littleton High in the first game of the Quarter Finals on Saturday, March 30 at 6 pm on NHPBS.

Bow High and Littleton High face each other on Saturday, February 9 at 6 pm on NHPBS.

Granite State Challenge features New Hampshire's top high school academic quiz teams as they demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts to beat the clock and buzz in first on this iconic New Hampshire game show. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts facts—along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports and New Hampshire.
