Kingswood Regional High Meets Portsmouth High on Granite State Challenge

Thursday, February 27 at 8:30PM on NHPBS

Durham, NH (February 24, 2025) - The Knights of Kingswood Regional High take on the 2022 champions, the Clippers of Portsmouth High in the fourth game in round one of Granite State Challenge. The game can be seen on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. on New Hampshire PBS.

Playing for Kingswood Regional High are 12th grader and team captain Liam Moore and 12th graders Jiner Zhuang, Samuel Keniston and Spencer Clark. Team alternates are 12th graders Eljay Sellinger-Blatt and Oliver Kolodner. English teacher John Struble coaches the team. Kingswood Regional High enrolls 804 students from Wolfeboro, Brookfield, Effingham, Ossipee, New Durham, Tuftonboro and Middleton.

Kingswood Regional High team captain Liam Moore shared a team strategy before the game. “I think the main thing is to really think about the question,” said Liam. “It's so quick to jump to an answer. I think you just need to breathe or take a second.”

With a confident feeling going into the match, English teacher and coach John Struble said that his team is strong with subjects like science, technology and math. “They’re getting stronger with humanities and history, but these are science guys,” said Kingswood coach Struble.

Playing for Portsmouth High are the team captain and 12th grader Nolan Peters, 12th grader Jack Hoium, 11th graders Aadit Noble and Iliya Ramadanovic. The team alternates are 12th grader Josh Kelly and 11th grader Anthony Smith.

Portsmouth High captain Nolan Peters confidently said, “I feel like we have a pretty well-rounded team, and Iliya has us covered on a lot of the music stuff.”

The Portsmouth High team is coached by reading and writing specialist Hannah Dul. Portsmouth High enrolls 1,087 students from Portsmouth, Rye, Greenland, Newington and Newcastle.

“History is definitely a strong point,” said Portsmouth High coach Hannah Dul. “Our captain plays a type of historical civilization building game, and whenever he gets some weird, esoteric historical question, I'm like, ‘Where did that come from,’” said coach Dul. “Now I know it's always from that video game, so that is a strong point for us.”

The winner of the game will move on to the quarterfinals where they will meet Tilton High on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 8:30 p.m. on New Hampshire PBS.
