Merrimack Meets Nashua South

Granite State Challenge Semifinals

(DURHAM, April 27, 2022) - It's a clash of the titans on Granite State Challenge Saturday, April 30 at 6 pm on NHPBS. Defending two-time Granite State Challenge Champion Merrimack High (2020 and 2021) meets fellow two-time champion Nashua South High (2016 and 2017) in the first semifinal game of Granite State Challenge.

Playing for Merrimack High are Captain and junior Jack Pikora, senior Connor Bobbitt,  junior Aris Corman-O'Reilly, and junior Alli Pikora. The team alternates are junior Rainier Murray, and sophomore Kishan Sreenivasan. The team is coached by Sara Campbell.  Merrimack High is located in Merrimack, NH in Hillsborough County, and enrolls around 1,170 students. Merrimack bested Kingswood Regional High and Plymouth Regional High on their road to the semifinals.

Playing for Nashua South High are Captain and senior Sri Korandla, senior Kiritu Gachuki, senior Keshav Rangan, and sophomore Curtis Newton. The team alternates are senior Hrishi Joshi and sophomore Deetya Nagri. Nashua South High is coached by Lex Duval. Nashua South High enrolls 1,790 students. Nashua South defeated Bow High And Fall Mountain REgional High on their way o the semifinals.

The winner of the match will move on to face either Portsmouth High or Londonderry High in the championship game.

Granite State Challenge features New Hampshire's top high school academic quiz teams as they demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking, and smarts to beat the clock and buzz in first on this iconic New Hampshire game show. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts facts - along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New Hampshire.
