Manchester Central Meets Salem High

Granite State Challenge - Round One

(DURHAM, March 17, 2022) - Tune in on Saturday, March 19 at 6 pm on NHPBS for the seventh match in the 40th season of Granite State Challenge. 

The seventh game of the season pits Manchester Central High against Salem High. Playing for Manchester Central are captain and senior Kellan Barbee, sophomore Akshay Manchanda, junior Tess Beckman, and senior Dante Parsons. They are joined by alternates junior Tyler Cotton and freshman Nick Barbee. The team is coached by Ed Doyle. Manchester Central is the oldest public high school in the state and enrolls 1,532 students from Candia, Hooksett, and Manchester.

Playing for Salem High is team captain and senior Valerie McDonnell along with seniors Donovan Homsey, John Medeiros, and Bianca Pichardo. The team alternates are seniors Ethan Foss, Ava Moniz, and Kendall Snyder. Salem High is coached by Bernie Campbell and enrolls 1,146 students.

The winner of the match will face either Londonderry High or Winnacunnet High in the quarterfinal round.

Granite State Challenge features New Hampshire's top high school academic quiz teams as they demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking, and smarts to beat the clock and buzz in first on this iconic New Hampshire game show. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts facts - along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New Hampshire.
