Manchester Central Meets Bishop Guertin and Merrimack Meets Plymouth

Granite State Challenge - Quarterfinals

(DURHAM, May 27, 2021) – Tune in to NHPBS Saturday, May 29 at 6:00 pm for the first two games of the Granite State Challenge quarterfinals.

Playing in the first game are Manchester Central and Bishop Guertin High.  Playing for the Little Green of Manchester Central High are Captain Jonas Weissberg, Kellen Barbee, Akshay Manchanda, and Tyler Cotton. The team is coached by Lorraine Meyette. Manchester Central High is located in Hillsborough County and enrolls around 1,532 students.

Playing for the Cardinals of Bishop Guertin are Captain Amelia Ballingall, Chris Swanson, Daniel Enright, Ian Winiarski, and alternates Mary Connolly and Qingning Wang. The team is coached by Kathryn Gann. Bishop Guertin High is a private Catholic school located in Nashua, NH.

Game two pits defending champs Merrimack High against Plymouth Regional High. Playing for the Tomahawks of Merrimack High are Captain Nick Gacharna, Michael Clark, Aidan Remick, Jack Pikora, and alternates Aris Corman-O'Reilly and Alli Pikora. The team is coached by Sara Campbell and Kyle Harvell. Merrimack High is located in Merrimack, NH in Hillsborough County and enrolls around 1,170 students. 

The Bobcats of Plymouth Regional High are represented by Captain Mason Earick,  Khalil Dakhlia, Katherine Luehrs, and Natalie Boyer with alternates Connie Kim and Dash Ough. The team is coached by Jay Fogarty. Plymouth Regional High is located in Plymouth, NH in Grafton County. It serves the towns of Plymouth, Ashland, Holderness, Campton, Rumney, Wentworth, Warren, Ellsworth, Waterville Valley, and Thornton and has an enrollment of around 674 students.

The winners of the matches will move on to the semifinals airing on Saturday, June 12 beginning at 6 pm on NHPBS.

*Granite State Challenge games were pre-recorded in March.
