Karen Ackerman (1951-)

Karen Ackerman was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her first book was published in 1982. Her book Song and Dance Man, illustrated by Stephen Gammell, won the 1989 Caldecott Medal. She is also the author of The Night Crossing, I Know a Place, The Tin Heart, Araminta's Paint Box, and The Leaves in October.
