Phillips Exeter Academy Defeats Milford HS in Granite State Challenge

– Phillips Exeter Academy Advances to Round Two –

(DURHAM, November 7, 2008) - Phillips Exeter Academy triumphed over Milford High School to claim a key victory on Friday’s Granite State Challenge, defeating Milford by a score of 245 to 145. Granite State Challenge airs Fridays @ 6 p.m. and again Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Public Television. The victorious Phillips Exeter Lion Rampants were comprised of seniors Arjun Venkatachalam, Michael Levin, Ji Hyuk Lim, and Satyen Motiani, with alternates In Young Cho, Kate MacNamee and Bhargavi Puppala. They were coached by Hunter Farnham. Their opponents, the Milford Spartans, included seniors Catherine Flynn, Katy Kolasinski, Jessica Wamala, and Molly Lai, with alternates Jordan Close and Samantha Minshull. They were coached by Dave Alcox. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May. Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game.
