Winnacunnet Regional HS Defeats Bishop Brady HS in the Quarterfinals of Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, April 10, 2008) - Two-time SuperChallenge finalist Winnacunnet Regional High School defeated Bishop Brady High School by a score of 280 to 210, advancing them to the semifinals of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. The series airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on NHPTV. The victorious Winnacunnet Warriors were comprised of seniors Jessica Noone and Gabbie Burns, juniors Casey Bradshaw and Craig Hartenstein, alternates Pat Sullivan and Laurel Weatherby, and coaches Kevin Fleming and Andy Gushee. The Bishop Brady Giants consisted of seniors Jenn Parsons, Tara Fitzgerald, Johnny Bassett, and Janet Moffatt, and alternates Noah Mellen and Thomas Hayes. The were coached by Jim Miller and Steve Woodward. Winnacunnet Regional High School will face Monadnock Regional High School in the semifinals on Wednesday, April 30 @ 7:30 p.m. Tune in Wednesday, 4/16 @ 7:30 p.m. to watch Calvary Christian School vs. Oyster River High School Tune in each Wednesday night @ 7:30 p.m. to follow your favorite teams and track their progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May. Now celebrating its 25th year, Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game.
