NASHUA HIGH UPSETS BISHOP GUERTIN AND MOVES TO SEMIFINALS OF GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE

(DURHAM, April 2, 2016) - In this week's GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE match, Nashua High School South beat defending champions Bishop Guertin by a score of 500 to 320. Bishop Guertin jumped ahead in the first round, but couldn't stop Nashua South from dominating subsequent rounds. The Nashua South Panthers were represented by captain Dody Eid, Noah Telerski, Sam McIntyre and Nisha Devasia, and were coached by Neil Claffey, Catherine Poulin and Greg Montine. The Bishop Guertin Cardinals were represented by captain David Travers, Holly Boivin, Jeff Steiner and John McCann, and were coached by Lisa LaRochelle. Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show. New Hampshire's top high school academic teams demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts as they play GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts and fine arts fact-along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New England.
