Con-Val Regional High School Advances to Quarterfinals of Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, January 20, 2011) – Con-Val Regional High School continued to dominate, defeating Trinity High School 385 to 190 on last night's round two match of Granite State Challenge. Catch Granite State Challenge Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and again Saturdays at 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Public Television, and always online. The triumphant Con-Val Cougars included seniors Alice Hale, Ethan Beihl, Karissa Vincent, Mara Zrzavy, and junior Will Welch. They were coached by Molly Flower Eppig. Their opponents, the Trinity Pioneers, included seniors John (Jack) Cummings, David Pounds, and juniors Kristen Van Uden, Eric Gadecki, Karin Parodi and Tess Kucera. They were coached by Joseph Malinowski and Matthew R. Carnevale. Con-Val Regional High School will face Merrimack Valley High School on March 9 at 6 p.m. in the quarterfinals. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in April. Granite State Challenge brings New Hampshire's top high school academic teams head-to-head in spirited competition. Long-time host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Lori Warriner interviews team members prior to the game.
