Salem High to Represent NH on High School Quiz Show Invitational

(DURHAM, May 16, 2018) – Tune in to NHPBS Saturday, ­­­­May 12 at 6 pm and 6:30 pm as four New England States ( Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island) compete in the High School Quiz Show Invitational.

Hosted by Billy Costa, this series of games will feature the winning teams from High School Quiz Show: Maine, High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island, High School Quiz Show: Massachusetts and representing New Hampshire, the 2018 Granite State Challenge champions, Salem High School.  

Playing for Salem High are captain Tony Consentino, Aidan Gallo, Jonathan Tarness, and Ricky Jeffreys, with alternates Alexis Ahern and Oba Oseghali. The Blue Devils are coached by Bernie Campbell.

The first game airs at 6 pm on NHPBS and will match the High School Quiz Show: Rhode Island winners against the winner of WGBH’s High School Quiz Show.

Game two, airing at 6:30 pm on NHPBS, will pit the winners of High School Quiz Show: Maine against the winners of Granite State Challenge and will feature a question posed by Salem native and New Hampshire Governor, Chris Sununu.

The championship game will air on May 26 at 6 pm on NHPBS.

Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, Granite State Challenge features New Hampshire's top high school academic quiz teams as they demonstrate remarkable teamwork, quick thinking and smarts to beat the clock and buzz in first on this iconic New Hampshire game show. The game emphasizes quick recall of math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts facts—along with questions about current events, entertainment, sports, and New Hampshire.
