(DURHAM, March 4, 2017) – In this week’s Granite State Challenge, Fall Mountain Regional High School defeated Souhegan High School by a score of 610 to 170. Fall Mountain came out of the gate strong and maintained their lead against a tough Souhegan team throughout the game.
Playing for the Fall Mountain Wildcats was captain Tim Fitzpatrick, Lenard Lim, George Gowdy, Lauren MacLachlan, and alternates Grace Bushway and Brandon Perkins. The team was coached by Nick Belsky. The Souhegan Sabers were represented by captain Hannah Parrott, Elizabeth Purvis, Sean Corrigan, Jake Upton and alternates Brian Heaney and Sarah Eastland. The team was coached by Dave Jasinski and Tony Doucet. “We are very proud of the growth our students have shown,” said Souhegan coach Tony Doucet. “This was the first year that our team finished in the top 14 of the Super Sunday Qualifying event, and we are extremely proud of them for that.”
Fall Mountain now advances to the second round of GRANITE STATE CHALLENGE.
Hosted by Jim Jeannotte, the popular quiz contest began the season with 16 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SUPERCHALLENGE title. Also, for a fourth year, there will be a Granite State vs. Bay State Governor's Cup match between the winners of the GRANITE STATE SUPERCHALLENGE and the WGBH Boston High School Quiz Show.
