In STROKE: THE CIRCLE OF HEALING, filmmaker Jaime Tafoya chronicles his journey as a stroke survivor. He shares his personal path to recovery, including both the use of Western medical treatments and traditional Native American healing practices. Jaime was left disabled and adrift in life, looking for solutions to his health crisis after experiencing a stroke. After returning to his hometown of Sacramento, Calif., he rediscovered his Native American roots by engaging with the Sacramento Native American Health Center for primary health care. He also built a team around him to address different aspects of his recovery journey. STROKE: THE CIRCLE OF HEALING examines the universal toll a life-altering health crisis can have on an individual's physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. It also underscores the importance of building a collaborative and supportive care network, as well as advocating for your own health choices.
