Produced in 1994, this documentary explores the life and times of the woman Mark Twain called "The most interesting woman who ever lived, and the most extraordinary." Best-selling author and influential religious leader,Mary Baker Eddy was born in 1821 in New Hampshire and spent most of her life there. She rebelled against the bleak realities of post-Civil war America and helped spark a revolution in "Spiritual Thinking." Daughter of a simple farmer, Eddy found solace in her writing and her religion. She founded the first Church of Christ, scientist, and established the Christian Science Monitor Newspaper, which began publication in 1908, two years before her death. More than 80 years later, the daily newspaper is still read worldwide.
