Sing Democracy 250

Sing Democracy 250 is a stirring musical odyssey commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, captured live in concert from Minneapolis. Through inspiring new music and powerful choral performances, the program invites audiences to reflect on America's history, celebrate the ideals that unite us, and renew our commitment to one another and our country. The Minneapolis performance is one of four Signature Concerts presented as part of a nationwide initiative that also includes performances by more than 150 choirs in communities across America. Together, these concerts celebrate the enduring promise of democracy while demonstrating music's unique ability to transcend divisions, affirm diversity, and inspire hope and harmony. Featuring the Together In Hope Choir, the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and guest choirs from across Minnesota, the concert premieres two newly commissioned works: US, inspired by Richard Haass' The Bill of Obligations, and Redeem the Dream, based on Langston Hughes' "Let America Be America Again". Together, these moving performances remind us that the power of democracy is in the voice of its people, and every voice matters.
