Healing A Soldier's Heart

HEALING A SOLDIER'S HEART follows the courageous journeys of four Vietnam veterans, all suffering from severe PTSD, who return to Vietnam to confront and heal their psychological and emotional wounds. Under the guidance of pioneering psychotherapist Dr. Edward Tick, the veterans confront their past, visiting locations where they fought the opposing Vietnamese army and lost their fellow soldiers and friends. Along the way, the soldiers seek forgiveness from their former enemies and discover self-acceptance. Dr. Tick appears throughout the film as a beacon of therapeutic insight, compassion, and empathy: "Each of our vets waited a lifetime to make a single pilgrimage back to that sacred site, where the most intense moments of their life happened, and where everything was rendered different, horrific, and sacred simultaneously." HEALING A SOLDIER'S HEART offers an unforgettable, transformative journey carrying viewers into the hearts and minds of the four veterans as they experience genuine forgiveness and compassion from their former enemies. The emotional support of their spouses remains in clear focus as they are seen supporting their husbands' longstanding feelings of grief, remorse, and soul loss for their destructive actions during the war. Throughout the journey, HEALING A SOLDIER'S HEART offers a series of trauma healing practices, including face-to-face meetings with former enemies, authentic apologies and acts of restitution, primal and eco-therapies, and an immersive exposure to Vietnamese culture, Buddhist prayer, and compassion for the first time in their lives. As Dr. Tick says, "The same suffering goes on consciously or unconsciously, but we have to make the suffering conscious in order to achieve healing." HEALING A SOLDIER'S HEART traces the veteran's gradual shift from terrorized nightmares, substance abuse, and attempted suicides, to culturally and spiritually aware healed warriors with profound lessons for PTSD-sufferin
