(DURHAM, July 11, 2005) - To increase awareness of the challenges of aging and identify ways to ensure the well-being of citizens as they grow older, New Hampshire Public Television and Seniors Count/Easter Seals NH will hold a community forum on Tuesday, July 19 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at the Connecticut Valley Home Healthcare Association, 958 John Stark Highway, Newport, NH. While there is no charge to attend, pre-registration is requested by calling NH ServiceLink Network at 866-634-9412.This community forum is the second to be held in locations across the state as part of a grant project called Seeing Seniors: Shaping the Future of Aging in NH. On September 27, there will be a community forum in Durham; on November 3, in Berlin. The forums bring seniors and caregivers together with local leaders to discuss the kind of communities we want for ourselves, our families and neighbors as we age. Through the community forums and a series of six NH Outlook programs, the project's goal is to increase awareness of, and encourage citizen involvement in, issues involving aging.Three Seeing Seniors segments have been featured on NH Outlook thus far, focusing on transportation issues, community housecalls, and caregiving. These programs will air again in August, with new episodes airing in September and October. NH Outlook, NHPTV's award-winning nightly newsmagazine, is dedicated to statewide coverage of the people, places, politics, communities and culture that make the Granite State special.
