NHPTV Receives $15,000

(DURHAM, January 24, 2006) — New Hampshire Public Television’s Ready To Learn program recently received a $15,000 donation from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. The donation will help NHPTV’s Ready To Learn program expand its educational services and literacy outreach programs. While Ready To Learn serves families throughout the Granite State, target populations include low-income families, those who have limited literacy, use English as a second language, have children with disabilities, or live in a rural area. The Ready To Learn program, part of NHPTV’s Knowledge Network, is in its ninth year of bringing educational services and resources to families, early education professionals, and other childcare providers across the state. The program focuses on children from birth to age 8. The goal is to help prepare children for success in school by engaging the reach of public television, fostering children’s emerging literacy skills and encouraging parents to read aloud to their children.
