NHPTV Receives 6 Telly Awards

(DURHAM, March 7, 2006) — New Hampshire Public Television recently received six bronze Telly awards for excellence in non-network television programming. NH Outlook , NHPTV's award-winning nightly magazine, and Wildlife Journal, a co-production of NHPTV and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, each received three awards NH OUTLOOK , dedicated to statewide coverage of the people, places, politics, communities and culture that make the Granite State unique, received bronze Tellys for the following: After The Flood: Alstead Tour (News/News Feature Category)A visit to the hamlet of Alstead for an insider's perspective on a recent flood and its aftermath. Producer/Editor: Phil Vaughn; videographer: Todd ZiemekTeacher of the Year and Music in School with Jeff Warner (Education Category) New Hampshire's 2005 Teacher of the Year, Randy Wormald of Belmont High School, who uses rap music to teach math, and Jeff Warner, who teaches history using music, were featured. It received bronze Tellys for the following: Family Deer Camp (Cultural Category) Family members gather at their remote deer camp. Producer/ videographer: Jonathon MillmanHiking With Dogs (Health and Fitness Category) A how-to segment examining the pros and cons of hiking with dogs. Field producer / videographer: Steve GiordaniWildlife Journal is co-hosted by Willem Lange and Lisa Densmore; the executive producer is Marc Diessner. Each episode has four segments: two feature stories and a “Wild Ways” (how-to skills) and “Wild Places” (areas of scenic or recreational interest) segment. Wildlife Journal airs on NHPTV Thursday nights @ 9 p.m ., and is repeated Fridays at noon, Saturdays @ 3:30 p.m., and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Information is available at www.wildlifejournal.tv . More than 12,000 entries to the Telly Awards are received each year. The highly respected national competition recognizes outstanding non-network TV programming, as well as film and video productions. Entries do not compete against one another, but are judged on their own merit by production professionals.
