NHPTV Programs Receive Top Honors from Associated Press Broadcasters Competition

DURHAM, May 15, 2006) - New Hampshire Public Television earned two first place and two honorable mention awards recently at the state's annual Associated Press Broadcasters Awards competition. The station garnered recognition in the following categories: First Place - Documentary or Series: NH Outlook : Seeing Seniors - a series designed to increase awareness of the challenges of aging in New Hampshire and to identify ways to ensure the well-being of citizens as they grow older. (Phil Vaughn, producer/reporter/editor; Chip Neal, producer/reporter/editor) First Place - Sports Play by Play: UNH Hockey - a composite of games broadcast in 2005. (Dan Parkhurst, play-by-play; Bob Norton, color analyst; Peter Webster, color analyst; Scott Jones, director; Linda Howe, producer) Honorable Mention - Feature: NH Outlook: Lawnmower Business - a feature about a NH man's grassroots enterprise. (Phil Vaughn, producer/reporter/editor) Honorable Mention - Feature Videography:NH Outlook: Lighthouse Kids - a feature about elementary school students who rescued the historic White Island Lighthouse on the Isles of Shoals. (Steve Giordani, videographer) Additionally, NHPTV has received nine Emmy nominations for Wildlife Journal and NH Outlook , the station's nightly newsmagazine.
