Manchester Students Join CircusFit

(Manchester, October 16, 2006) - For more than 100 years, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® has entertained and inspired Children Of All Ages with quality family entertainment. Now, The Greatest Show On Earth® celebrates one of its newest programs in New Hampshire when First Lady Dr. Susan Lynch joins Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s famous Clown Alley at Parker-Varney (Elementary) School in Manchester for a CircusFit show on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 10 a.m. The show is part of a partnership with New Hampshire Public Television’s (NHPTV) LiveFIT NH initiative.Parker-Varney School and more than 83 other schools across New Hampshire have signed up to be a part of the CircusFit - LiveFIT NH initiative. That means that more than 5,000 Granite State students are learning that a little clowning around leads to physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Teachers learn how to implement the free curriculum with their students. NHPTV’s Educational Services Division, the Knowledge Network, is supporting CircusFit by serving as a liaison to NH educators.Ringling Bros. created CircusFit in August of 2005 in response to two critical issues facing American families today - childhood obesity and inactivity. Developed by The Greatest Show On Earth, in partnership with The President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, CircusFit encourages America’s youth to lead healthy, active lifestyles by combining the fun of circus skills with stretching, strength building and aerobic exercise.
