Gilford High School Defeats Raymond High School in Round One of NHPTV's Granite State Challenge

(DURHAM, October 4, 2007) - Gilford High School narrowly defeated Raymond High School by a score of 130 to 125 to advance to Round Two of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. Granite State Challenge airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m.The triumphant Gilford Golden Eagles were comprised of seniors Lucas Doyle, Bailey Bergeron and Lindsay Pletch, and junior W. Spencer Klubben, and coach Corey Nazer. The game emphasizes quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines - math, science, social studies, language arts, and fine arts - along with a smattering of pop culture trivia and New Hampshire topics. Host Jim Jeannotte asks the Challenge questions to the teams; co-host Tim Estiloz interviews team members prior to the game.Major funding for Granite State Challenge is provided by the New Hampshire Lottery.
