New Hampshire Public Television’s NH OUTLOOK looks at the issues facing Granite Staters as we care for our parents and ourselves. The “Seeing Seniors” special airs Monday, April 7 @ 9:30 p.m., following the broadcast of the PBS documentary, Caring for Your Parents @ 8 p.m. What’s it like for families trying to balance life, work, childcare and eldercare? NH OUTLOOK's Phil Vaughn talks with a Laconia woman who became her mother’s caregiver when she started seeing signs of advanced dementia. The story explores why she made the decision to keep her mother at home and discusses some of challenges—financial issues, the search for support services, and the day-to-day emotional dynamics—as well as the rewards.NH OUTLOOK host Beth Carroll talks with Elinor Ginzler, co-author of the book Caring for Your Parents: The Complete AARP Guide, about options and resources to help caregivers and families navigate this complex emotional terrain.
