Belmont HS Defeats Trinity Christian in Round One of Granite State Challenge

– Belmont High School Advances to Round Two –

(DURHAM, November 28, 2008) - Belmont High School defeated Trinity Christian School by a score of 180 to 140, advancing them to round two of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. Granite State Challenge airs Fridays @ 6 p.m. and again Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Public Television.The victorious Belmont Red Raiders were comprised of juniors Tim Gurshin, Peter Cloutier, Mike Farkas, and Andrew Noriewicz. They were coached by Kevin Charleston. Their opponents, the Trinity Christian Swordsmen, included juniors Ben Meroff and Matt Ricard, and sophomores Jake Evans and Skylar Vogler. They were coached by Pete Flint.Tune in Friday, 12/5 @ 6 p.m.for the next match-up on Granite State ChallengePembroke Academy vs. Portsmouth High SchoolTune in each Friday night @ 6 p.m. and follow your favorite teams' progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May.
