The choirs perform with Janis and his ensemble in a program that spotlights our state’s high school choirs and students, and celebrates music that uplifts and inspires. Additional airdates for CELEBRATE AMERICA: April 5 at 8 p.m. | April 9 at 1 p.m. | April 11 at 9 p.m. | April 18 at 6 p.m.CELEBRATE AMERICA was taped at NHPTV’s Broadcast Center last October. More than 500 students from New Hampshire high school music programs came to the Durham studio to perform for the special. After the Manchester Central High School choir performed “On Eagle’s Wings,” student Miri Reinhold said, “Music about our country is always so powerful. This is a really great program.” CELEBRATE AMERICA provides students with an opportunity to share their music with northern New England and PBS viewers. It also shows young people the importance of contributing to community through the arts, as CELEBRATE AMERICA is a fundraising event for public television. Conductor Janis, well known for his “Music with a Mission,” has worked on philanthropic projects with artists such as Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Andre Previn, and The New York Philharmonic.
