(DURHAM, April 3, 2009) – Phillips Exeter Academy squeezed by Portsmouth Christian Academy in what may have been the most exciting Granite State Challenge match of the season. The teams were neck and neck heading into the last round, but Phillips Exeter pulled ahead with seconds left to go and defeated Portsmouth Christian Academy by a score of 250 to 220. Granite State Challenge airs Fridays @ 6 p.m. and again Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on New Hampshire Public Television.The prevailing Phillips Exeter Lion Rampants included seniors Arjun Venkatachalam, Michael Levin, Ji Hyuk Lim, Satyen Motiani and alternates Bhargavi Puppala, In Young Cho, and Kate MacNamee. They were coached by Hunter Farnham. Their opponents, the Portsmouth Christian Eagles, included seniors Sarah Wason, Kile Townsend, Emily Ruseski, Michael Frudakis and alternates Katy Sternberger and Kayla Emerson. They were coached by Donna Capern. Phillips Exeter Academy was the first team to reach the Granite State SuperChallenge, which will air at a special time, Thursday, April 16 @ 8:30 p.m. and repeat Friday, April 17 @ 5:30 p.m.Tune in Friday, 4/10 @ 6 p.m. for the second Granite State Challenge semifinal match: Fall Mountain Regional High School vs. Hollis-Brookline High School
