  • 1971 - State police and National Guardsmen storm Attica Prison in New York to stop rioting. 
  • 1989 - Desmond Tutu leads the largest anti-apartheid march ever held in South Africa.
  • 1993 -  Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Palestine Liberation Organization chairman Yasser Arafat sign the Oslo Accords at the White House granting Palestine limited autonomy.
