• 1908 - The Treaty of Portsmouth, ending the Russo-Japanese War, is signed in New Hampshire.
• 1972 - The Palestinian terrorist group "Black September" attack and hold 11 Israeli athletes and coaches hostage at the summer games in Munich. Leading to the deaths of the athletes and coaches, 5 terrorists, and 1 police officer.
