“Digital TV 101” Explored on NHPTV Special

NH Outlook Special Explores What the 2/17/09 Digital Transition Means

(DURHAM, June 18, 2008) – Puzzled by the "DTV is coming" alerts that are everywhere? Then you won't want to miss New Hampshire Public Television’s DTV 101 special, airing Sunday, June 22nd @ 9 a.m. and again Tuesday, June 24th @ 7:30 p.m. NH Outlook's Beth Carroll explores how the 2/17/09 digital TV transition could affect your household. She'll tell you how to get ready for the biggest change in viewing since color TV came on the scene.Analog, digital, converter box, datacasting – there’s no shortage of confusing terms. NHPTV Director of Technology Brian Shepperd explains, “Digital television is just a new technology that allows us to deliver crystal clear pictures and better sound quality to the consumer.” Most households won’t need to do anything to get ready for the digital conversion in February 2009, but there are some that need to know how the transition will affect their television viewing.Beth Carroll also speaks to Jim Barry with the Consumer Electronics Association. Barry dispels some myths about digital television including the fact that consumers don’t need a high-definition television to receive a digital signal. However, if you’d like to upgrade your television, Barry explains what to look for when shopping.Learn more about the switch to digital television at nhptv.org/dtv, or call (603) 868-1100.
