(DURHAM, February 28, 2008) - Oyster River High School defeated Alvirne High School by a resounding score of 275 to 185, advancing them to the quarterfinals of New Hampshire Public Television's Granite State Challenge. The series airs Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m., and re-airs Saturdays @ 8:30 a.m. on NHPTV. The triumphant Oyster River Bobcat team was comprised of senior Joshua Handelsman, juniors Adam Mistretta, Gabriel Dorfsman-Hopkins, sophomore Alexe Taylor, alternates Michael Noronha and Caleigh MacPherson, and coach Susan C. Smith. The Alvirne Broncos team included seniors Robert Johnson and Michael O'Keefe, junior Chris Kraemer, sophomore Jean-Luc Bouchard, and alternates Bryan Conant and Jie Gu; they were coached by Kathy Bouchard and Brenda Engel. Granite State Challenge returns Wednesday, 3/19 @ 7:30 p.m. John Stark Regional High School vs. Sanborn Regional High SchoolTune in each Wednesday night @ 7:30 p.m. to follow your favorite teams and track their progress. The popular quiz contest begins with 32 Granite State high school teams battling toward the coveted SuperChallenge title. There are four single-elimination rounds leading to the final contest in May.
