(DURHAM, June 5, 2007) - LiveFIT NH, New Hampshire Public Television's community engagement project, was awarded a 2007 Outstanding Achievement Award for Physical Activity and Health from the New Hampshire Governor's Council on Physical Activity and Health. The award recognizes NHPTV and the LiveFIT NH project for making "a significant impact on the health of New Hampshire residents by promoting healthy lifestyles through physical activity and fitness programs."LiveFIT NH focuses on encouraging healthy eating and physical activity in children and adults to reduce the incidence of childhood obesity, which has become an epidemic in the U.S. With its partner organizations statewide, the two-year LiveFIT NH initiative uses NH OUTLOOK television segments, educational and outreach activities, and online resources (at www.nhptv.org/livefitnh) to demonstrate how individuals, families, schools and communities can combat obesity trends.
